LONE STAR SWIM TEAM - LSST |

OUR PHILOSOPHY Competition by nature builds character, discipline, and perseverance. When an athlete is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence and chases their dreams with eyes wide open only good things can be achieved. In the world of sports, there is no other discipline that challenges the athlete physically, mentally, and spiritually like competitive swimming. Lone Star Swim Team has the distinct possibility of becoming a future powerhouse of Age Group Swimming in Houston. To achieve this goal, LSST athletes will: TRAIN: We will train to the task, condition, and standards in our respective Age Groups. Practice is tough and realistic. We train and prepare for that one moment that presents itself. Given the opportunity, we will have no excuses, other than our besT effort, because our training has prepared us for the moment. MAINTAIN: We will maintain proper care and respect for our equipment and team mates. Without these tools and fellow athletes, the road to excellence becomes that much harder to traverse. We will be responsible for our success, and we will practice good sportsmanship by helping one another accomplish our goals. CARE: We will learn to care for ourselves through proper diet and rest. Our bodies are tuned racing machines that need constant nourishment and maintenance. In order to ensure that our training and goals are met and renewed, we must allow our bodies to mend and rest. LEAD: In order to become a more successful team and to reach and conquer personal goals, we will take it upon ourselves to be punctual, decisive, and committed in our performances in practice and meet situations. We will strive for perfection with every start, stroke, turn, and finish. INTEGRITY: An LSST athlete will demonstrate honesty and professionalism by their conduct before, during, and after practice; this also applies to meet situations. Our conduct is an extension of our character. We will not engage is any action that disrespects our team, family, or self. LOYALTY: We will be proud to call ourselves Lone Star Swimmers—Coaches—Parents—by wearing and displaying our team pride through clothing and equipment that bears our name. We will support and encourage each other daily in practice, and will stand side by side to cheer on our team mates during meets. “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”—Aristotle |
