TRAINING GROUPS

What is a Lone Star Swimmer?

An athlete/scholar that is prepared for the pursuit of excellence in and out of the water. This individual
demonstrates discipline, perseverance, good sportsmanship, and responsibility. They are furthermore
strengthened by the respect for their sport, opponent, family, and teammates. They venture forward
with their heads held high knowing that they are the best prepared athletes behind the block.

TEAM BREAKDOWN:

Each team has a main coach with Coach Demeterio (Head Coach) and
Coach Alvarado (Head Age Group Coach) working with all groups periodically.

LEARN TO SWIM:
Coach Lee

* Minimum age 4
* Water awareness and beginning work on Freestyle and Backstroke
* Training duration: 2 times a week for 45 minutes
* Gear: Kick Boards
* Stars and Stripes: Coach Lee
* Minimum age 5
* Ability to swim a 25 with minimal help from kick board or noodle
* Learning stroke drills for Freestyle and Backstroke, buoyancy, and proper feel for the water.
* Training duration: 3 times a week for 45 minutes
* Gear: Kick Boards

TEAM WHITE:
Coach Alvarado/Coach Lee

* Minimum age 6
* Ability to swim 10 - 50s or 25s on interval.
* Competent in Freestyle and Backstroke, learning stroke drills for Breastroke.
* Continued emphasis is on drill and technique training.
* Yardage: 1000-1500yds
* Training duration: 4 times a week for 1 hour
* Gear: Kick Boards, Pull Buoys, Fins
